13 December is the festival of St. Lucy. In Sweden, it is celebrated (oddly) with the pagan tradition of bringing light into the darkest time of year. People often go early to work that day to enjoy the parade led by 'Lucia' with her crown of candles, and accompanied by 'star boys' and female attendants. Lucia buns, a delicious soft egg bread flavored with saffron, are served, with coffee, of course!
